This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown.
The Shinjuku Showdown arc of JJK was certainly phenomenal from start to finish. In this arc, fans got to see many powerful sorcerers take up arms against the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Of course, against a calamity such as Sukuna, survival was never a guarantee for any of the sorcerers.
Much to the surprise of the readers, the vast majority of the major sorcerers who took part in the battle against Sukuna actually ended up surviving, and some of them even came back from death’s door.
Kinji Hakari
A Next Generation Sorcerer Gem
Kinji Hakari was one of the biggest disappointments in JJK’s Shinjuku Showdown arc for the fans, as he did not get to play any major role. He spent the vast majority of the arc in a stalemate against Uraume and fans did not get to see any of the major battles. At the end of things, Hakari simply saw his opponent disintegrate and he didn’t even get to see Sukuna’s face properly up close. The fact that he survived isn’t a shock to any fan.
Hiromi Higuruma
Newly Awakened Talented Sorcerer
Hiromi Higuruma’s survival was certainly surprising to most fans, given that he was struck down by the King of Curses using the World Splitting Dismantle. The fact that he survived was attributed to his being a sorcerer with immense talent which is comparable to even Gojo.
Higuruma is certainly a very bright sorcerer and has a great future ahead of him. Although his contribution to the battle against the King of Curses was not major, he was still impressive in his own way.
Kusakabe
A Powerful Grade One Sorcerer
Kusakabe is certainly a weak sorcerer, but he was clearly established as the Strongest Grade One sorcerer in the story during Shinjuku Showdown. Of course, at some point, he had to test his luck against Sukuna, and while he certainly did impress the fans, he still ended up falling to the King of Curses. Thankfully, he survived due to Ui Ui and the medical unit who were working overtime as the fight continued.
Maki Zenin
The Next Toji Fushiguro
Maki Zenin put in an amazing shift in the battle against Sukuna in Shinjuku Showdown. Not only did she stab his heart, but she kept him busy while Yuji Itadori continued to heal himself. Furthermore, Maki took many of Sukuna’s powerful blows, including two black flashes.
She showed great resilience in this arc, and in the end, managed to survive this battle thanks to the help from the other sorcerers around her.
Yuta Okkotsu
Gojo’s Very Own Apprentice
Yuta Okkotsu came back from death’s door in the battle against Sukuna. He was cut down by the King of Curses using the World Splitting Dismantle, which is what killed Gojo. After Yuta was chopped up into pieces, it was Rika who anchored him to the world, and, later down the line, he was seen transferring himself to Gojo’s body while his main body was healed.
Later down the line, it was because of Rika that he was able to switch back to his own body, and fans certainly were delighted to see him survive. Yuta put in an incredible shift against Sukuna, and without him, the battle would certainly not have been won.
Yuji Itadori
The Man Who Beat Sukuna
The protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori also managed to survive the fight against Sukuna. It is safe to say that Yuji was one of the biggest contributors in this fight, given that he continued to find Sukuna despite all odds. He awakened many incredible powers in this battle, and in the end, settled things inside his own domain. Of course, Yuji had a lot of help in his battle, without which he would most certainly have died. But, luck was on his side and he ended up killing Sukuna.
Yuji tapped into his true potential in this fight, and it has now been established in the story that he has the potential to equal Sukuna in power. Still, Yuji was far from that level at that moment and he would’ve needed to train relentlessly over the next few years to actually go on to reach that level.
Megumi Fushiguro
The Man With Great Potential
Megumi Fushiguro was marked for death once he was taken over by Sukuna. Had it not been for Yuji and the others, Megumi would most likely have died in the story. Thankfully, Yuji saw to it that Megumi survived after he defeated Sukuna, and his body was spared. Fans saw Megumi return after the war concluded, and it is safe to say that, now, he is stronger than ever before.
