What makes Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness such a unique Pokemon RPG, besides the fact that there are no wild random encounters, is that you start the game off with an Eevee as your partner.
In Pokemon Colosseum, you start with an Espeon and an Umbreon, but this time around, you will get the option to evolve your cute partner into one of the five Eeveelutions available (up to generation 3—sorry to the Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon fans out there!)
Keep reading our guide to find out how to evolve Eevee in Pokemon XD and which evolution you should go with!
Where to Find Eevee Evolution Items in Pokemon XD
As part of the main story, you’ll eventually find your way into Gateon Port. Once you arrive, head into the shop to the left part of the ‘town’ and speak with the sailor inside and agree to listen to his tale. Once he’s done talking, he will give you the option of choosing between five evolution items for your Eevee. Unfortunately, you can only choose one!
The Water Stone will let your Eevee evolve into Vaporeon, the Water-type Pokemon; the Thunder Stone will give you a Jolteon, an Electric-type; the Fire Stone will evolve Eevee into Flareon, a Fire-type; the Moon Shard will give you Umbreon, a Dark-type; and the Sun Shard will give you Espeon, a Psychic-type.
How to Evolve Your Eevee
Using the Sun and Moon Shards (Espeon & Umbreon)
- If you choose the Sun or Moon Shards, you need to keep the item in your inventory and use your Eevee in battle until it grows friendly enough to evolve. Luckily, this happens very fast in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. From our experience, Eevee evolved into Espeon after a single battle after getting the Shard.
Using Elemental Stones (Vaporeon, Jolteon, & Flareon)
- As for evolving into the other three Pokemon, you simply need to look for the stone in your inventory and use it on Eevee. There are no repercussions to evolving your Eevee ASAP, so do it if you want a stronger Pokemon on your team.
Which Eeveelution is Best for a Pokemon XD Playthrough?
To get right to it, because of the Pokemon you’ll face in your journey in Pokemon XD and the fact that most fights are double battles, the S-tier pick for your Eevee is none other than Espeon, the Psychic-type Pokemon.
It’s a fast attacker that can deal heavy damage with moves like Psybeam and Psychic, and its high special attack just boosts its usefulness even more. Many of the Shadow Pokemon you face early on are Poison and Shadow-type, which are exceptionally weak to Psychic-type moves. Instead of taking a couple of turns to take down opponents, having Espeon on your team will pretty much guarantee one-hit kos.
If you want to consider one of the other four Eeveelutions in Pokemon XD, here’s a quick rundown of what they have to offer:

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
